Karen's flamenco dance studio is located in the Heart of Mount Pleasant. This Manhattan style dance studio located at 60 west 7th avenue (corner of Manitoba and 7th avenue) welcomes you with a smile.
An inviting and colourful lobby will make you feel at home before entering into one of the two bright open dance studios. With vaulted ceiling, exposed beams, sprung oak and maple floors and large windows overlooking the northshore mountains, lush gardens and parks – this is a stunning space to create flamenco dance.

Teachers
Karen Pitkethly
As one of Canada’s elite professional flamenco dancers, Karen Pitkethly is the face of flamenco in Vancouver. This prolific dancer, choreographer, and teacher is best known for mesmerizing audiences weekly at Kino Cafe and teaching a steadily expanding group of dedicated flamenco students. Karen is a life-long dancer, extensively trained in ballet, contemporary, and flamenco dance. Her journey as a flamenco bailora brought her to Seville, Spain thanks to a travel grant through the Canada Council. The experience allowed Karen to immerse herself in flamenco culture and study under flamenco heavy weights such as: Merche Esmeralda, Angeles Gabaldon, Felipe Mato, Belen Maya, Juana Amaya, Pastora Galvan, Rafaela Carrasco, Isabel Bayon… Karen has been active in Vancouver for over 10 years, dancing, teaching, and becoming a significant figure in Vancouver’s growing flamenco scene. |
