Class description

Beginner
First year of Flamenco. Dancers brand new to flamenco dance. The Beginner level classes will introduce dancers to the basics of flamenco movements. For the month of September, Beginner level is the Introductory level.
2022 Fall & Winter Choreographies: Tango / TBA

Introductory
Slower pace than beginner level. Once dancers have a good grasp of the basic structure and dance being taught, they will advance into the Beginner level class. - New dancers welcome throughout the year.

2022 Fall & Winter Choreographies: Tango / TBA

Elementary
Dancers who have taken flamenco for at least one full term and have performed al least one choreography.
2022 Fall & Winter Choreographies: Alegria / TBA

Intermediate
Dancers have strong footwork and upper body movement. Dancers should have a solid understanding and feel of the different 12 & 8 beat rhythms. Dancers are required to take 2x per week.
2022 Fall & Winter Choreographies: Tarantos / TBA

Advanced
Dancers will be expected to pick up dance movement quickly, demonstrate dance movement individually and to have a good understanding of the different rhythms of flamenco. Dancers are required to take 2x per week.
2022 Fall & Winter Choreographies: Farruca / TBA

Technique-only Class Option
The technique-only class option will allow students to take the first 45 minutes of any class. It is a discounted option that includes only the flamenco technique. No choreoraphy will be taught. Technique Add-on is adding a technique class to an already registered choreography class.

Bata De Cola
Bata De Cola is a dress or skirt with a long train at the back. Dancers will learn how to master this tail in an elegant manner. Dancers will need to purchase their own bata de cola to join this class. Bata's are ordered 2x throughout the year. August & December

Clasico Espanol
Flamenco Ballet: Clasico training gives dancers a graceful approach to flamenco with use of castanets and lots of upper body and footwork.

Company
Intensive compnay programme. Emphasis on group and individual performance and expression. Dancers perform in Theatre and Festival Performances throughout the year.

Children’s Levels
Pequenitos - 3 to 4 years
Children 1 - 5 to 6 years
Children 2 - 7 to 11 years
Pre-Teen - 12 years and up

Junior Company
By invite only. Intense training and performance.

Tablao Workshops
Sevillanas / Fandangos / Tangos / Buleria

Technique Drills
Different footwork and upper body combination and drills will be taught each week. Dancers will improve thier technique. No choreography will be taught. Open for drop-ins, or make-up classes.
Level I: Beginner / Elementary Level
Level II: Intermedaite / Advanced Level


New Students

Requirements:
- any low-heel shoe is accepted (flamenco shoes not required)
- comfortable moveable clothing
- no previous dance experience needed
- new students are welcome any time during a term.


Missed Classes or unpredictable working schedule

Karen Flamenco offers 3 classes of the same level giving dancers the option of making-up missed classes or for those who have unpredictable schedules they may come to any of the 3 class times offered throughout the week.
The same choreography and technique will be taught throughout all 3 classes.
The studio reserves a non-refund policy.

Dancers must register in the class they will be able to commit to, and will need to inform the administration of their plans to come to another class time to be sure there is space available.
